Exhibitor for the VCAA Top Designs Exhibition at Melbourne Museum
My gothic costume and set design for ‘The Woman in Black’ represents the trapped mind of the protagonist, Actor. Black is used as a symbol of the Woman in Black’s omnipresence, thus my design progressively darkens as she enters Actor’s reality. The Eel Marsh dollhouse and voodoo doll symbolise her power over Actor. His costume of netting portrays his motivation to escape entrapment. However, the voodoo doll acts as a miniature version of Actor and foregrounds the way in which he will always be trapped inside the Woman in Black’s world.
